A Big Pile of Money

Several years ago, when I wanted to build a new home, I needed ideas for what I wanted it to look like. So, I drove around nice neighborhoods and took pictures of attractive homes.

I came upon an awesome home and decided to ask the owner if I could take some pictures. The owner answered the door and gave me permission to take some pictures. I decided to ask what he did for a living.

He said that he didn’t want to tell me, but he said he would give me one piece of advice. His advice was, “stand next to a big pile of money long enough for some of it to fall in your pocket.”

Truth is that in our business there are “big piles of money” everywhere:

  • New decision makers with your current customers
  • Referrals
  • New prospects
  • People you meet
  • Family, friends, and associates
  • and many more

The question is, “Are you positioning yourself with these people and patiently reminding them what you do so that when they are ready to buy or refer, you are ready for that newfound success to ‘fall in your pocket?’”
